KUWAIT CITY - Kuwait says Qatar is ready to hold a dialogue with Arab Gulf countries that sever relations with the country. Kuwait notes that the Gulf state that is struggling with the embargo is ready to listen to their concerns.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah confirmed that. This statement is the latest change to resolve ongoing diplomatic disputes.
"Kuwait affirms the readiness of the brothers in Qatar to understand the reality of the doubts and concerns of their brothers and to heed the noble efforts to improve security and stability," al-Sabah said.
"Kuwait emphasizes resolving this dispute is inevitable within the framework of the Gulf," he added as quoted from Al Araby, Monday (06/12/2017).
Kuwait has led efforts to reconcile among disputed parties on Monday after Saudi Arabia and its allies cut diplomatic ties with Doha over alleged support for terrorism.
While Qatar strongly denies the allegations, Kuwait announced its rejection of a decision taken against Doha and has requested official news agencies and national newspapers not to fall into the ongoing media war against Qatar.
The Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah met with Saudi King Salman Abdulaziz just a day after the kingdom severed ties with Doha, before heading to Qatar to meet Sheikh Tamim.
Qatar's foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, welcomed the mediation effort. The Emir of Kuwait has played an important role in the Gulf rift earlier in 2014.
"The Emir of Qatar considers him a parent and respects his desire to postpone any speeches or steps until there is a clearer picture of the crisis," the foreign minister said.
