SEOUL - North Korea, a nation of "dissidents" of various UN Security Council resolutions, fired missiles from the northeastern coast of the country on Thursday (8/6/2017)
Unlike previous ballistic missiles, this time the barrage of fired weapons was a 'land-to-ship' missile type.
Certainty about a "surface-to-ship" missile test, conducted from the coastal city of Wonsan, North Korea, was conveyed by the South Korean military on Thursday morning.
North Korea ignores US and China, fired another ballistic missile
According to the South Korean Military Chief of Staff's office, the fired missiles shot for 200 km to the East Sea or the Sea of Japan.
Closed and nuclear-armed North Korea has test-fired almost every week of missiles over the last few weeks of 2017.
"North Korea fired several unidentified projectiles, thought to be ground-to-ship missiles, this morning from around Wonsan, Gangwon Province," the South Korean military said.
The Japanese government also confirmed the launch of the missile, Kyodo news agency reported.
"We have not confirmed any direct impact on the security of our country, until now, we will continue to coordinate with the US and South Korea to collect and analyze information, while maintaining high alert status," said Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
