News update in Manila ! Philippine police arrested Maute brothers father

Filipino police today arrested a man who was said to be the father of two Maute brothers who now lead militant groups in Marawi City.

The man known as Cayamora Maute was arrested while driving with his son-in-law and daughter-in-law and the woman his wife believed. They were stopped at a checkpoint in Davao City.

"As the male and father leader of the Maute brothers, I think he can still be persuaded to ask militant groups to stop the resistance in Marawi and surrender to the government," Davao police chief Alexander Tagum said, as quoted by Channel News Asia Tuesday (6/6). ).

Military officials believe the Maute brothers - Omarkhayam and Abdullah - are still hiding somewhere in Marawi City. The military is now investigating a report calling one of the two dead and fighting.
