The BBC's Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at that time, said: "A white van rider is speeding his vehicle up - maybe about 80 miles an hour - turning off the road to the crowd that walks along the sidewalk.
"He turned right to me and then hit about five or six people."

Britain's Transportation Police confirmed at 23:15 that 'a number of casualties' fell and said there was an 'incident that might involve a van and a knife attack'.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they fired a shot around the Borough Market where a stabbing attack had been reported.

The people depicted 'walking injured' were transferred to the Andaz Hotel on Liverpool Street, which was guarded by many armed police.
Near Guy's Hospital, area closures are taken as a precaution to keep staff and patients safe, as are St Thomas' and Evelina Children's Hospitals, which are 1.6 km away.
