NAIROBI - At least 15 people were declared missing after a seven-storey building collapsed in Nairobi's capital city of Nairobi. Thus the statement of a number of rescue agencies.
The Kenyan Red Cross said on its Twitter account that the building collapsed on the eastern outskirts of Nairobi. Images in Kenya's Red Cross Twitter account show stacks of broken concrete blocks and crooked metal pieces.
While the Saint John Ambulance said 15 people were reported missing. The incident happened on Monday night, the two rescue agencies said as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (13/06/2017).
The Kenyan Red Cross said the building had been emptied before it collapsed, and rescue workers inspected the area to make sure no one was around when it collapsed.
The country in East Africa has experienced similar tragedies in the past. A total of 49 people died in the middle of last year when other buildings collapsed when heavy rains in poor neighborhoods.
