BERLIJN - Duitse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, Sigmar Gabriel, beschuldigt de president van de Verenigde Staten (VS) Donald Trump oorzaken van het conflict in het Midden-Oosten. Trump riskeerde een nieuwe wapenwedloop als landen gesneden banden met buurland Qatar, Doha.

Saoedi-Arabië en zijn bondgenoten, waaronder Egypte, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en Bahrein kondigde op maandag dat ze verbroken diplomatieke banden en nauwe betrekkingen van de lucht, zee en land naar Qatar.

Het geschil komt minder dan een maand na Trump bezoek aan Saoedi-Arabië en vroeg de islamitische landen om zich te verenigen tegen "extremisme".
